Check current product and full country list ↗Copies a clean link without campaign tracking parameters.
Scope: RoamSelect’s 10 tracked destinations and representative verified rows only. A match does not confirm untracked countries, territories, transit stops, current checkout availability or the exact expiry hour. Recheck the linked provider page.
A local plan is scoped to one destination, a regional plan to a defined list of countries, and a global plan to its own wider list. Similar region names can contain different countries. Check every overnight stop, day trip, layover where data is needed and separately administered territory against the exact product page before purchase.
Entering an unsupported country can stop data without stopping an already active plan’s clock. GigSky explicitly says its expiration timer continues after leaving the designated country or region. RoamSelect does not apply that rule to every provider, but it also never assumes another provider pauses the timer without plan-level evidence.
Airalo, Saily and Holafly describe regional plans that cover multiple listed countries on one plan. Ubigi says one reusable profile can hold destination plans and automatically select the purchased country plan after a border crossing. These are different product models even though both can avoid installing a new profile at every stop.
At a supported border, leave the eSIM enabled and allow time for the new network registration. GigSky says a first connection in a new country can take up to five minutes. If data does not resume, recheck the selected data line, data roaming and the provider’s APN instructions, then toggle airplane mode or restart. Do not delete the eSIM as a first step.
OFFICIAL-SOURCE DIFFERENCES
Coverage, plan selection and timer behavior are separate fields. Unknown rules remain unconfirmed rather than being generalized across providers.
| Provider | Plan model | Supported movement | Timer evidence | Safe border action |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AiraloPlan scope ↗ | Local, regional and global products have different coverage scopes. | A regional plan works only across the countries listed for that region; a local plan stops providing coverage after leaving its country. | No provider-wide pause rule was confirmed in the reviewed public guidance. | Verify every stop on the exact regional or global plan before purchase. |
| SailyRegional bundles ↗ | A regional bundle combines multiple listed countries into one data plan. | One eSIM can serve the destinations included in that bundle; not every country in a broadly named region is necessarily included. | No provider-wide pause rule was confirmed in the reviewed regional-plan guidance. | Open “View country list” for the selected bundle and check every stop. |
| HolaflyBorder switching ↗ | Regional and global plans keep one profile active across predefined coverage zones. | Holafly says supported local networks are selected automatically when moving between included countries. | No provider-wide outside-coverage pause rule was confirmed in the reviewed multi-country guidance. | Keep the profile installed; if switching fails, follow the plan-specific network instructions. |
| UbigiPlan switching ↗Reusable profile ↗ | One reusable profile can hold separately purchased country plans as well as broader plans. | Ubigi says the profile automatically captures the local network and uses the purchased plan for the country entered. | Plan validity is separate; no universal pause rule is claimed here. | Confirm the next country plan was purchased before arrival; no profile swap is normally required. |
| GigSkyValidity timer ↗Border registration ↗ | Plans are valid for a specified country or region and a set duration. | The eSIM registers with the preferred supported network after entering a new covered country. | Confirmed: after activation, the expiration timer keeps counting even outside the designated country or region. | Wait up to five minutes, then verify cellular data, data roaming and APN “gigsky”; toggle airplane mode or restart if needed. |
| Nomad · aloSIMProvider-wide rule unconfirmed | Regional or multi-country products exist, but rules are plan-specific. | No single provider-wide border-switch rule was confirmed in the reviewed public guidance. | Unknown; do not assume time pauses outside coverage. | Check the exact country list, activation policy and support instructions before departure. |
